Hike through cinema-worthy tropical landscapes in this journey that begins with a stop on the town of Sierpe for breakfast (not included), followed by a 90 minute boat ride among cocodriles, snakes, four species of monkeys and many of birds through the largest area of mangrove swamps in Central America to Caño Island, you will pass by two of the most scenic areas in the country, Drake Bay and the Marenco Biological Reserve where we’ll keep an eye out for dolphins as well as Humpback, Pilot and Killer whales. At the arrival to the island you will walk and hike during three hours inside a pristine primary forest. The hike ends at the Rangers’ Station where we will provide a delicious picnic lunch surrounded by rich natural atmosphere and after that it will be time to head back to the hotel.
Itinerary
We will then take a comfortable 90 minute boat ride to Caño Island through the largest area of mangrove swamps in Central America. The mangroves are inhabited by crocodiles, snakes, four species of monkeys, and a great variety of birds. Once through the Sierpe River mouth we’ll pass two of the most scenic areas in the country, Drake Bay and the Marenco Biological Reserve. Hopefully we will be able to observe Humpback, Pilot and Killer Whales along the way.
When we get to the park our bilingual naturalist guide will lead you on a 3 hour walking tour of a pristine primary forest. The hike ends at the Rangers’ Station where we will provide a delicious picnic lunch surrounded by rich natural atmosphere.
